SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC (WSPA-TV) -

Deputies say a fight over macaroni and cheese landed a South Carolina man in jail.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office charged Alex Rossi with third-degree assault and battery following an incident at a home on Hammett Store Road in Lyman on Sunday.

A man told deputies he confronted his son about missing cheese packets from a box of macaroni and cheese.

An incident report says the man's son, Alex Rossi, then chased after the victim, punching him in the face and head. The victim said the fight left his eye bleeding and bruised.

Deputies say Rossi told them the fight did start over macaroni and cheese and he punched his father in the face, but his father punched him back. Deputies said Rossi had no visible injuries and the blood on his hand wasn't his own.

Rossi was charged with Assault and Battery 3rd Degree.
