tomato juice, "sodium-free"

Post by mendocit on Fri Jun 14, 2013 1:49 am

buy either safeway or cosco tomato paste. Not sause. need 12 oz can for each 2 quart (64 oz) of juice. besides the water i add a tablespoon of lemon or lime juice and a vitamin C tablet. the only ingredient in tomato paste is tomato. in sauce there maybe salt, onion, garlic, and other contaminants. sometimes two 6 oz cans are cheaper than a 12 oz can. organic is available.
originally made it because always was thirstier after drinking commercial juice because of large amount of salt (sodium added).  home  preparing from paste is 1/2 cost of the store commercially prepared juice.

That's a unique way of making it.  Most interesting.
Sodium is SO hard to stay away from.
I can never really understand why so much of it is used.
I can only imagine the truckloads of salt arriving at the Campbell's Soup factory every single day.

I don't know why this is a JPEG but note the mention of Mac/Cheese in there. And learn a whole lot of interesting facts about Canada.
